Weather Tight, Our Custom Home Reaches a Major Milestone | Cardin Homes

Every custom home build reaches a point where the structure begins to feel complete. For us, that moment is now.

Our modern farmhouse at Possum Kingdom Lake is officially weather tight. With the windows and doors installed and the roof in place, the home is now sealed from the elements—marking a major step forward in the construction process.

What started as raw land has now become a fully enclosed structure, ready for the next phase.

From Structure to Enclosure

After completing framing, the focus shifts to protecting the home. Installing windows and doors, along with completing the primary roofing system, allows the structure to be sealed and shielded from weather exposure.

This stage is critical. It protects the interior from moisture, allows for more controlled working conditions, and sets the stage for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work to begin inside.

With the shingled roof now installed, the home is fully covered. We’re still waiting on the metal roofing components that will complete the modern farmhouse look, but the structure itself is secure and protected.

A Major Step Toward Completion

Reaching the weather tight stage is one of the most important milestones in any custom build. It represents the transition from exterior structural work to interior progress.

Now that the home is enclosed, you can walk through each space and begin to experience it more clearly. Natural light comes through the windows, rooms feel more defined, and the layout starts to take on its full character.

The open-concept living area, the primary suite, and the connection to the covered back porch are all becoming more tangible with each step.

Built to Move Forward

With the home now protected from the elements, the next phase of construction can move forward efficiently. Mechanical rough-ins, insulation, and interior work will begin to bring depth and detail to the structure.

Each stage builds on the last, and getting the home weather tight ensures everything that follows can be completed with precision and consistency.

Looking Ahead

As we continue progressing, we’ll be moving into interior systems and finishes while also completing the remaining exterior details, including the metal roofing elements that will define the final look of the home.

This project continues to move forward exactly as planned, and we’re excited to share each step along the way.

Stay tuned as this custom home at Possum Kingdom Lake continues to come together.
