Framing Complete: Our Custom Modern Farmhouse Takes Shape at Possum Kingdom Lake
There’s a moment in every custom home build when everything changes. The foundation has cured. The lumber arrives. And suddenly, what was once a flat slab transforms into walls, rooflines, and defined spaces. We’re excited to share that framing is officially complete on our custom modern farmhouse at Possum Kingdom Lake. The home is no longer just lines on paper, it’s standing.
From Footprint to Structure
Framing is one of the most dramatic stages of construction. In a matter of days, the home goes vertical. Walls define rooms. Openings reveal future windows. The roofline begins to shape the character of the house.
For this nearly 3,000-square-foot modern farmhouse, the open-concept layout we shared earlier is now fully visible. You can stand in the main living area and see how the kitchen, dining, and living spaces connect. You can walk into the primary suite and understand the flow from bedroom to closet to utility space.
Precision Matters at This Stage
While framing moves quickly, it’s one of the most important structural phases of the build. Proper alignment, square corners, accurate measurements, and thoughtful layout execution ensure everything that follows, roofing, drywall, cabinetry, and finishes—fits exactly as intended. This stage defines ceiling heights, window placements, and the architectural presence of the home. With the three-car garage framed, the covered porch outlined, and the rooflines established, the modern farmhouse character is beginning to reveal itself.
Seeing the Vision Come to Life
One of the most rewarding parts of framing is being able to physically walk the home and experience the layout for the first time. The open floor plan feels expansive yet connected. The primary suite feels private and intentional. The transitions from space to space flow naturally, just as we designed.
From the front entry to the back porch overlooking Possum Kingdom Lake, the home is beginning to reflect exactly what we envisioned.
What Comes Next
With framing complete, the next steps include roofing, mechanical rough-ins, and exterior progress that will start to seal the structure and define its exterior character. Each phase builds upon the last, and with the framing stage behind us, this modern farmhouse is officially taking shape. We’ll continue documenting the journey as this custom home moves closer to completion.
Stay tuned, there’s much more ahead.
